LinkedIn API Pricing FAQ: 12 Questions Answered

LinkedIn API pricing starts with its general API Terms, which currently charge no API fee. Access depends on the product and its conditions. Signed partnership agreements govern their covered APIs. Independent providers charge for their own services, separately from LinkedIn's official access terms.
For developers planning public data lookups or CRM enrichment, these answers explain billing units, EnvoAPI credits, monthly costs and plan changes. Use the calculations to price your workload, then check the returned fields.
EnvoAPI is an independent, unofficial third-party API. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by LinkedIn.
LinkedIn API pricing: official access and billing units
API fees, LinkedIn product subscriptions and independent data services cover different purchases. The name “LinkedIn API” does not create a shared price list.
How much does LinkedIn API cost?
LinkedIn charges no API fee under section 8.2 of its API Terms of Use, as of October 2026. Section 1.2 gives conflicting Additional Terms priority. A signed partnership agreement governs the APIs it covers.
A Sales Navigator or LinkedIn Recruiter subscription price is not an official LinkedIn API price or proof of application access. Check the terms for the API product you need before assigning a LinkedIn API cost to your project.
Independent providers set their own service prices. EnvoAPI's LinkedIn data API reads public professional data; it does not send messages or connection requests, publish posts or operate your account. Read how unofficial LinkedIn APIs work for the differences between access models.
Does LinkedIn have an API for free?
Yes, LinkedIn offers API access within its general no-fee terms, subject to product access requirements. Free access does not give every application permission to retrieve every data type.
LinkedIn's Getting Access guide distinguishes self-service permissions from products requiring approval, as of October 2026. Confirm the permissions and permitted use for your application. An approval requirement alone does not establish a fee.
What does "per seat" mean?
On Linked API's pricing page, one seat means one connected LinkedIn account, as of October 2026. This is per-account pricing; requests and credits measure API use.
| Billing unit | What it counts | Budget implication |
|---|---|---|
| Seat | A connected account | Count the accounts you need to connect. |
| Request | An API call | Count calls across all required tasks. |
| Credit | A provider's billing unit | Multiply requests by each endpoint's credit cost. |
| Usable result | A record meeting your field requirements | Divide spending by records your application accepts. |
A connected-account service and a public-data lookup service serve different tasks. Compare the required output before comparing their billing units.
LinkedIn API pricing per month: EnvoAPI plans and credits
Your EnvoAPI budget depends on the monthly plan and the credits consumed by each task. The table below covers EnvoAPI's independent service, not official API access. A credit allowance does not promise complete records.
What is a credit?
A credit is EnvoAPI's billing unit. Each endpoint has a fixed credit charge per call, as of October 2026. The plans include these credit allowances and request limits:
| Plan | Price (USD per month) | Included credits | Requests per minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100, one-time | 10 |
| Launch | $49 | 10,000 per month | 60 |
| Growth | $149 | 50,000 per month | 120 |
| Scale | $499 | 250,000 per month | 300 |
| Volume | $1,799 | 1,000,000 per month | 600 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
The table uses EnvoAPI pricing. The Free plan grants 100 credits once, without a card; these credits do not renew monthly. Enterprise has no fixed published price for calculating a standard unit cost.
Which requests cost more than one credit?
EnvoAPI charges 2 credits for email verification or website content, 5 for website email scans, and 10 for work-email searches, as of October 2026. Retrieving LinkedIn profile data or company data costs 1 credit per lookup. A profile contact lookup is a separate paid request.
| Task | Credits per request |
|---|---|
| Profile lookup | 1 |
| Company lookup | 1 |
| Profile contact lookup | 1 |
| Email verification | 2 |
| Website content | 2 |
| Website email scan | 5 |
| Work-email finder | 10 |
Check the current endpoint credit costs for the charge assigned to each task. Add separate contact or email requests to your budget instead of treating them as part of a profile lookup.
EnvoAPI's published Growth workload example allocates its allowance across these tasks:
- 20,000 profile enrichments × 1 credit = 20,000 credits.
- 10,000 email verifications × 2 credits = 20,000 credits.
- 1,000 work-email finds × 10 credits = 10,000 credits.
Our calculation totals the request counts multiplied by their documented credit costs: 50,000 credits, within the Growth allowance. This is a budget illustration, not a customer result or a promise that every email search succeeds.
What does the price per 1,000 credits mean?
EnvoAPI's price per 1,000 credits divides the monthly price by included credits, then multiplies by 1,000. As of October 2026, its pricing page publishes these rounded values:
| Plan | Published USD per 1,000 credits |
|---|---|
| Launch | $4.90 |
| Growth | $2.98 |
| Scale | $2.00 |
| Volume | $1.80 |
Using the Launch plan price and allowance, $49 ÷ 10,000 credits = $0.0049 per credit. A profile lookup consumes 1 credit, so its allocated cost is $0.0049 per call. This assumes you use the entire allowance exclusively for profile lookups.
That calculation spreads a subscription payment across its allowance; it is not a retail pay-as-you-go price. Unused credits increase the allocated cost of the requests you actually send. Additional tasks also change the cost of enriching a record.
For your workflow, calculate cost per usable record = total workflow spending ÷ records that pass your checks. Count every paid call, and define the required fields before counting a record as usable.
EnvoAPI billing exceptions and credit renewals
EnvoAPI distinguishes invalid requests from completed tasks that find no result. Monthly credits and purchased top-ups also follow different renewal rules.
Am I charged for failed requests?
EnvoAPI does not charge for invalid requests or expired cursors, as of October 2026. Other outcomes follow the specific billing rules below; an empty result does not always mean a refund.
| Situation | Credit treatment |
|---|---|
| Invalid request or expired cursor | No credit charge |
| Email verification provider unavailable | Credits refunded |
| Yahoo address cannot be verified | Credits refunded |
| Work-email finder finds no address | Credits still charged |
| Website email scan finds no address | Credits still charged |
These cases come from the EnvoAPI credit and billing rules. A response missing a field is not the same as an invalid request. Budget for completed email searches even when they contribute no usable contact.
Track the request outcome and its credit charge separately. That distinction lets you explain spending without assuming that every paid call produced a record your application accepted.
Do unused credits roll over?
EnvoAPI's monthly credits reset at renewal and do not roll over, as of October 2026. Purchased top-up credits never expire and remain until used. EnvoAPI consumes monthly credits first, then top-up credits, according to its credit renewal policy.
For uneven workloads, track the two balances separately. Unused monthly allowance does not build a reserve for a later busy period. A top-up balance remains available after the monthly allowance resets.
Can I buy more credits without changing plans?
Yes, EnvoAPI sells top-ups to paid-plan accounts, as of October 2026. The Starter top-up costs $29 for 5,000 credits; Free accounts cannot buy it. Credits are added after payment confirmation.
A top-up increases your credit balance while your plan's requests-per-minute limit stays the same. Use it to cover additional credit demand. If your constraint is request frequency, evaluate the plan's limit before buying more credits.
Choosing an EnvoAPI plan and managing limits
Choose an EnvoAPI plan using total workload credits and the request limit shared by your account. Check responses against your required fields before committing to a monthly budget.
How do rate limits work?
EnvoAPI applies a requests-per-minute (RPM) limit per account, shared by all API keys, as of October 2026. Exceeding the limit returns HTTP 429 with Retry-After, according to EnvoAPI's limits policy. Respect that retry interval.
Monthly credits measure your spending allowance; RPM controls request frequency. Neither value measures how quickly a complete workflow finishes.
LinkedIn's standard rate limits use a 24-hour period and reset at midnight UTC. Check limits for the relevant endpoint and application, rather than assuming one quota covers every LinkedIn API.
Which plan should I start with?
Start with EnvoAPI's 100 one-time Free credits to test your required tasks, as of October 2026. Choose a paid allowance after checking the data and credit usage. Follow this checklist:
- Match each task to an endpoint in the API reference and its credit cost.
- Send a profile request using the profile lookup documentation.
- Read
meta.creditCost, inspectmeta.sections, and check required fields for null values. - Review usage by endpoint, then multiply expected monthly requests by each task's credit charge.
This documented request uses a synthetic profile URL. Replace it with your input and keep the API key on your server.
curl --get 'https://api.envoapi.com/v1/profiles/details/by-url' \ --data-urlencode 'url=https://www.linkedin.com/in/avery-chen-synthetic/' \ --header "Authorization: Bearer $ENVO_API_KEY" \ --header 'Accept: application/json'{ "data": { "fullName": "Avery Chen", "headline": null, "skills": ["Python"] }, "meta": { "creditCost": 1, "sections": {"skills": "incomplete"}, "skills": {"hasMore": true} }}This response excerpt contains synthetic data, not a measured API result. It shows a charged lookup with a missing headline and a partial skills preview. Other response fields are omitted.
The API returns fields from public pages; emails and phone numbers are not assured. HTTP 200 does not prove that every required field is present.
Choose Launch when your calculated workload fits 10,000 monthly credits and 60 RPM. Judge both limits against your application.
What happens when I upgrade or downgrade?
An EnvoAPI upgrade applies immediately, adds the credit difference and starts a new billing period, as of October 2026. A downgrade takes effect at the next renewal. Your current credits and rate limits remain until then, according to EnvoAPI's billing policy.
Check your data budget before choosing a plan
Confirm the data you need, each task's credit charge and the fields your requests return. Compare the resulting monthly workload with the plan allowance and account request limit. Use those checks to choose a budget that fits the records your application accepts.
